چکیده
Abstract A validated UHPLC-PDA with an ESI-MS/MS method has been developed for simultaneous estimation of six bioactive alkaloids (magnoflorine, berbamine, columbamine, jatrorrhizine, palmatine and berberine) in the different extracts roots Berberis aristata DC (Family:Berberdiaceae). It is important medicinal herb native to Northern Himalaya commonly known as ‘daruharidra’, ‘daruhaldi’, ‘Indian barberry’ or ‘tree turmeric’. An insight into research literature uncovered reports on isoquinoline like magnoflorine, palmatine, berberine major bioactives B. roots, possessing pharmacological therapeutic effects. In present study, these aforementioned were separated Phenomenex Luna®, 5 µm-C8 analytical column. The HPLC-MS analysis was performed at a flow rate 0.90 mL min −1 . Each alkaloid that resolved characterized by precursor ions fragment electrospray ionization (ESI) source both positive negative using scan mode. limit detections (LODs) 0.087, 0.727, 0.035, 0.124, 0.782 0.794 μg berberine, respectively. proposed fully according international (ICH) guidelines found be selective, sensitive highly accurate concomitant symbolic bio-markers roots.

Estimation of berberine in ayurvedic formulations containing Berberis aristata.
A sensitive, simple, rapid, and efficient high-performance thin-layer chromatographic (HPTLC) method has been developed and validated for the analysis of berberine in marketed Ayurvedic formulations containing Berberis aristata DC for regulatory purposes. Chromatography of methanolic extracts of these formulations was performed on silica gel 60 F254 aluminum-backed TLC plates of 0.2 mm layer th...
متن کاملIsolation of quaternary alkaloids from Mahonia aquifotium
Five alkaloids were isolated from the underground part of Mahonia aquifolium of domestic origin: magnoflorine, berberine, palmatine, jatrorrhizine, and columbamine. The aerial part of this plant contained only berberine, palmati ne, and jatrorrhizine. The identity of the isolated bases was corroborated by colour reactions in the u.v. light, by i.r. and mass spectra, optical rotation and compar...
متن کاملRapid screening for the adulterants of Berberis aristata using direct analysis in real-time mass spectrometry and principal component analysis for discrimination.
Adulteration or substitution of commercial Berberis aristata and its herbal products with inferior-quality substituents is very common. Metabolic profiling of B. aristata, along with its common adulterants/contaminants/substituents such as B. asiatica, Mahonia borealis and Coscinium fenestratum, was rapidly carried out using direct analysis in real-time mass spectrometry (DART MS) to generate t...
متن کاملIsolation and identification of alkaloids from fruits of Berberis thunbergii DC
Two major bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloids, isotetrandrine and berbamine and three protoberberine type alkaloids berberine, palmatine, and jatrorrhizine were isolated from seeds of Berberis thunbergii DC. Berberine and oxyberberine, which is not present in the seeds, were isolated from the pericarp. Identity of the isolated substances was verified by spectral means (i.r., u.V., and mass spectrom...
متن کاملQuantitation of the alkaloids berberine, palmatine and jatrorrhizine in Mahonia stem by capillary electrophoresis
Many species of the Mahonia plant are used in China as traditional medicines. Some of the active components have been identified as alkaloids and pharmacological research has determined that the plant has antibacterial, antioxidant, antifungal, anticancer and antiproliferative properties. Here we describe the quantitation of three alkaloids in the stem of various mahonia species. CE is particul...
